About Me

Hello. I’m Mike Borozdin. I'm a passionate software developer who lives in Edinburgh, UK and works for Cloudreach Limited, a rapidly growing IT consultancy specialising in cloud computing.

I’ve been programming since I was 12 when I was learning C/C++ because I wanted to write games. Yeah! I wanted to start a company that would make computer games because this business seemed to be very profitable and I thought I’d become a multi-millionaire with that:).

I hold a double Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh (UK) and the University of Trento (Italy). During my Master's studies I lived both in the UK, Italy, and Germany where I wrote my MSc thesis while doing an internship at SAP AG. I worked in the Security & Trust team in Karlsruhe and developed a threat analysis tool and also published a research paper about our threat modelling apporach and the tool.

It is quite evident that I am very keen on sharing my knowledge. This blog is not the the only way I do that, I also write for the company's dev blog and do presentations at TechMeetup events in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Additionally,  I was a Microsoft Student Partner for two years both in the UK and in Russia (my home country). During that time I learnt a lot about speaking at conferences and organising events.

In spite of being viewed sometimes as a very technical person I do also hold a Bachelor's degree in Management. And as a natural result of that (and not only of that) I strongly believe that even software developers and other technical persons should be business aware and posses good people skills.

Regarding my personal life and interests besides computers and the Internet, I’m a huge music fan who enjoys many musical styles from classic rock and alternative to flamenco and avangarde jazz. I’m learning to play a classical guitar, but I’m not a great guitarist:). I enjoy cinema classics and art house films. I love travelling to different countries and enjoy Formula 1 and other kinds of autosport.
